Hello,

In this article, there is a topic I want to talk about. Project Management. I have been working as a Project Manager since January 2019. I have completed a year in this task.

So I wanted to write a review. First of all, Project Management is not as easy as thought by society.

How easy can a situation with a human focus be? As opposed to what people think, pretty hard. The first thing I learned was this; Knowing the project well does not mean that you will manage it well. The two are very different things. Managing is like an interdisciplinary journey.

You can face situations you have never faced before. One day you can find yourself dealing with the personal problems of a person in the project. It is necessary to be ready for these situations. Of course, the situation mentioned previously is only one of many. You should keep yourself up to date technologically. My advice to you is to get this training if you want to do this job. You can improve yourself on this subject with PMP certification programs. I believe it will add a lot to you. Also reading books is of great importance.

Especially developing new approaches will broaden your perspective in this case.

I will also talk about a book that I can recommend to you. The Making of a Manager: What to Do When Everyone Looks to You.

It was a book that benefited me a lot while reading, some sentences gave me a lot of thought.

The author of the book, Julie Zhou, is the head of Product Design on Facebook. In the first pages of the book, he explains the tasks of the Project Manager.

A Manager’s Job Is To

· have meetings with reports to help them solve their problems,

· share feedback about what is or isn’t going well, and figure out who should be promoted and who should be fired.

Fast-forward three years. Having done the job now, I’m a bit wiser. My revised answer would look like the following.

A Manager’s Job Is To

· build a team that works well together,

· support members in reaching their career goals and create processes to get work done smoothly and efficiently

As time goes on you start to grasp some ideas better. As I said, this is a journey. Just as said in the same book “Great Managers Are Made Not Born.”
